Bettey Finney Tobey's interest in history began in childhood. Her family lived in Braintree, Massachusetts for several years. At the end of grade 3, her family returned to Concord. This allowed Bettey and her older brother, Bill Finney, to become impassioned visitors to Concord's Public and State Libraries, and the New Hampshire Historical Society. Bettey's academic degrees, coupled with various Historical Societies' memberships, have personally expanded her visions of recognizing and preserving Concord's heritage through time.
Elizabeth C. Jewell is active in several historical associations and has authored and illustrated three other books of historic interest, and writes a blog, www.dreamnewengland.wordpress.com. She lives with her husband, Patrick, in an old New England home on a windy hill, surrounded by gardens. Elizabeth enjoys family time, exploring history, gardening, illustration, raising preservation awareness, and other creative ventures.
