Ogdensburg Through Time

Ogdensburg was founded on the shore of the St. Lawrence River in 1749 by a Jesuit priest who wanted to convert the native peoples and at the same time keep watch over the activities of the British in Oswego. The village was invaded by the British who occupied the area until the last battle of the French and Indian War just off our shores, and the British were finally expelled by the Treaty of Paris in 1763.

Ogdensburg qiuckly grew with abundant water power and shipping on the rivers. Industry boomed and the population grew.

Today Ogdensburg is the only American city on the St. Lawrence River. Ogdensburg Through Time provides an excellent opportunity to travel back in time to briefly visit the past through fascinating old images and look ahead to today and hopefully gain some insight into possibilities for the future.
